cycling + monorail = massive mass transit boner
I have the right to be told the truth at all times. This includes a right to know about fears, doubts and concerns as they arise, not after they become insurmountable. Don’t tell me what you think I want to hear; tell the truth — that is what I need to hear.
I wonder what my life would be like if I had learned this 2, 5, 10 years ago.
I am a very open person about things that can make others squeamish. Experience has tempered this frankness with discretion, but… I miss oversharing! Taboo observations and pushing bounds are half the thoughts in my head, so I’m going to use Tumblr’s private blog entry feature to share TMI with you sometimes if you’re interested.
Your clicking of a TMIotD link on this blog constitutes consent to be possibly shocked, upset, grossed out, intrigued, confused and/or disappointed by whatever I’ve felt might be TMI. The reader absolves me of any responsibitlity for the administration of eyebleach or any therapy that might be required after clicking the following link.
The format of TMIotD will be an announcement like such with a link to a private blog post. Above the fold of the private entry will be a general description of the post, a point of no return if you will. All details will be below the fold.
After all the buildup— enjoy!
edit: apparently tumblr’s “read more” feature doesn’t work so well with private entries. I’ll hack something together to get it to work as I desire.
I visited Detroit for the first time this summer to catch a ball game. Craig gave me a quick tour of the city beforehand and the widespread abandonment nearly brought me to tears. Academically, I /know/ that all things are cyclical, but witnessing the ebb of a whole city was a sobering example. I hope this opportunity for rebirth is not squandered on another monorail.
I will call your ex and convince them to reconsider. Or, if you’re really over it, I will call them and detail for them exactly how far you’ve come since the breakup. In either case, I will record the conversation and send it to you with a physical copy of Won Over Frequency.
While it’s last minute to pile on the kickstart, it sounds like paypal-ing some dough to gavin@gavincastleton.com is the better option anyway.
Two things I love: Neal Stephenson and Mongolians. SO STOKED! I’m intrigued by the experimental format and hope the collaborative writing hangs together. Maybe it’ll even moderate Stephenson’s notoriously slow starts!
I’ve been so busy moving and shaking that when I checked on my fantasy baseball teams today, I was surprised to learn I’d just won the regular season championships in both my head-to-head leagues. I didn’t even know this was the last week of the season! I wonder if paying attention now would ruin the chemistry?
I’m in this contest. My first real foray into blogging started with the Great YLTLSWBC of ‘06. That contest nearly got me dooced from my job at 3M and directly led to my current awesome job running the IT department at IDI. Who knows what this year’s contest will bring?? I hope it’s a pony!
